We are thankful for everyone reaching out and want to help as many as possible. We are a small, three-person operation doing this outside our work hours. If you requested firewood before December 7, 2025—we’ll respond by email. Currently we can’t take any more requests for firewood but if you’ve requested wood sit tight we’ll get to you. Priority will be given to those who can pick wood up from one of our two locations. Volunteer opportunities are available. Stay warm and love your neighbor -James

Turning Wood Waste Into Home Warmth

We are not collecting any more trees from yards this year. Thank you for all the calls and emails wanting to donate. We’ll try and pick up wood again starting this spring.

Share your story

What does a warm fire mean to you? Fond childhood memories? Chopping wood for your family? Camping? Pick up wood and you have the option of sharing your fire story.

Access Makes a Difference

More people would use their fireplaces at home if they had access to affordable or free firewood. Most wood sold at grocery stores is kiln dried and burns quickly. The wood we provide is air dried and burns slower, longer, and hotter for homeowners.

Urban Forest Management

Atlanta is a city in a fragmented forest. Trees divided by concrete, asphalt, and single family homes. Using the wood from trees is a great way for people to become closer with the forest. Instead of chopping trees down and letting the wood go to waste we hope to encourage our neighbors and community to think about other ways wood from trees can be used.

Firewood will help seniors and veterans keep their winter electricity bill low. Most people would use firewood more if they had access to it. We are building a sustainable, local culture by using firewood and keeping families warm.

No trees were cut down

We remove trees that have fallen on private property after storms. Instead of dumping or chipping the tree we convert it to firewood to keep families warm this winter.

Free Firewood For Elderly And Veterans

Who
we are

Fire is humanities’ original gathering spot. Stories, traditions, and culture were all first shared around fires. Atlanta Firewood Bank wants families to stay warm and share stories around a fire this winter. We are able to provide free firewood to veterans and elderly through support from the Volgenau Climate Initiative and Unified Wood Economy.
